REPRODUCTION OF THE ETHNOMINAL COMPONENT OF GERMAN FOLK TALES IN UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION

Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of reproduction of ethnominal units of German folk tales in Ukrainian translation. It is determined that the national coloring of the content and form of the German folk tale is preserved, first of all, at the lexico-semantic level of the language, that most adequately reflects the national picture of the world. It is revealed that proper and proper fairy names belong to the realities of a particular linguistic culture, and have different ways of translation. Proper names are reproduced through transcription and appellations are preserved in an internal form. At the same time, the reproduction method uses the method of similarity, when the character in the Ukrainian translation receives a specific color with the help of the name. Full compliance of national color is ensured by means of context, which is a source of data on the history, culture and traditions of the people. In this connection the translation of lexical units, which denote objects, concepts and phenomena that are specific to a particular people and related to a certain historical epoch, is of particular importance. It was noted that by translating the text from one linguacultural to another there are wordsrealities, the accuracy of translation of which is more often concluded in the functional rather than the formal compliance of the original. It is revealed that the reproduction of the content and form of the original is achieved through descriptive, equivalent and literal translation, which makes it possible to convey the national color of the German fairy tale. Traditional verbal formulas, whose originality is directly related to the peculiarities of the mentality of the people, also acquire special color. As a result of the study of the translation of traditional formulas of German folk tales, it was found that in the Ukrainian version verbal formulas are characterized by typical structures, retain specific genre-generic properties of the original and reproduce them in the model of another culture, which is worth paying attention to when translating.
