EVOLUTION OF THE CONCEPT EIRE IN THE CONTEXT OF ANGLO-IRISH LINGUOCULTURE

Abstract
The article is devoted to the diachronic analysis of the concept EIRE in the Anglo-Irish linguoculture. Anglo-Irish linguoculture was formed within the conditions of ethnic inhomogeneity, which affected the transformations in the structure of the concepts of the corresponding recipient linguocultures, as well as the emergence of new concepts that belong to both contacting cultures and ensure the adequacy of interethnic communication. The research was carried out within the framework of the anthropocentric, ethnocentric, cognitive linguistic paradigms. The study material includes belles-lettres texts of English-speaking Irish authors dated from the twelfth century into the twenty first century.
The author provides a detailed description of the peculiarities of the concept at various stages of the history of the Anglo-Irish society. It is proved that the macrostructure of the concept changes due to the special aspects of interaction between the minority (autochthonous Celtic) and majoritarian (introduced Anglo-Saxon) cultures. The macrostructure of the concept EIRE is not rigid and is transformed under the influence of extralinguistic factors (political dependence of Ireland on England, social and linguistic policies in the state). It is proved that the etymological memory of the word associated with the mythonym Ériu has affected the conceptual and figurative layers of the concept EIRE. The cognitive features of the concept signify its historical dynamics, in particular, the expansion of the conceptual composition (from 'land of the ancestors' to 'land of the ancestors', 'dry land', 'country, state'). The figurative layer of the concept also underwent transformation: the dominant image of 'Woman' transformed from an archetypal Goddess-Foremother to the images of Mother-Queen, Mother-Martyr, Virgin-Savior. Valuable component of the concept correlates with the positive modus of the axiological scale; it is formed in accordance with the changes in the moral and ethical norms through the awareness of the need to protect democratic values.
