Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive linguopoetic analysis of the specificity of verbalization of thanatological and ontological concepts within the discourse of the liminal states, based on the poetry collection «Poems from the Embrasure» by Maksym Kryvtsov. The aim of the investigation is to identify the mechanisms of linguistic representation of the existential experience of war as a space where life and death intersect. The methodological framework combines an integrative approach that unites Karl Jaspers’ existential philosophy, Martin Heidegger’s ontological paradigm, the thanatological studies of Herman Feifel and Robert Kastenbaum, as well as methods of linguopoetic analysis. It has been established that Kryvtsov’s poetic discourse functions as testimony of a boundary experience, where death appears not as an abstract philosophical notion but as an immediate reality that determines the semantics of the text and shapes its axiological dimension. The conceptual sphere of LIFE and DEATH in the collection has a dualistic structure, within which a constant interpenetration of polar meanings occurs, and the boundary between them becomes a zone of aesthetic tension. The poetic language acquires features of documentary authenticity, employing elements of military jargon, medical terminology, and radio communication intertwined with biblical and mythological allusions. The study identifies the key metaphorical models structuring the thanatological and ontological spaces: bodily disintegration, naturalization of death, sacralization of everyday experience, and desacralization of the transcendent. The aesthetic comprehension of trauma is manifested through the poetics of fragmentation, metonymic detail, and synesthetic imagery, which model the transition from experience to verbalization. Kryvtsov’s poetry collection emerges as a linguopoetic paradigm of boundary existence, in which the word performs therapeutic, sacralizing, and testimonial functions. The article demonstrates that the thanatological and ontological discourses of war poetry form an integral existential system, in which language becomes a means of spiritual resistance to nonbeing and an instrument for affirming human subjectivity.
